Dr. Justin Mitchell has been serving as the Head of School at First Baptist School of Charleston since January 2021. Prior to joining the First Baptist School community, he was a professor and Director of Undergraduate Education Programs at Charleston Southern University's College of Education from June 2016 to December 2020. During his tenure at Charleston Southern, Dr. Mitchell taught across all academic levels offered by the College of Education, including the Bachelor's in Teacher Education, Master's in School Administration, and Doctorate in Leadership.

Dr. Mitchell has dedicated over a decade to public education, working in both elementary and middle schools. He is an alumnus of Appalachian State University, where he earned both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Education, as well as a Doctorate in Educational Leadership. Dr. Mitchell is a Nationally Board Certified Teacher in Middle Childhood Generalist. Additionally, he is a Certified Curriculum and Instructional Specialist (K-12) and a School Superintendent.
