September 2023 High School Counseling Update

Writer's picture: First Baptist SchoolFirst Baptist School

I can’t believe we are beginning the 2023-2024 school year. I’m sure this summer flew by. Like many of you, I’m ready to get started with a new school year.

To those of you who are new to FBS school, welcome! We are excited to have you. I’d like to explain what my role is here at FB High School. As the college counselor, I see ALL students: 9th-12th. Typically in the fall semester, I toggle between seeing seniors and freshmen. I’m making sure my seniors are well prepared for college applications and that freshmen know who I am and we talk about the importance of a high school transcript and life beyond high school. Then, in the spring, it’s about the juniors and sophomores. Preparation begins for juniors getting ready for life after high school and sophomore year, we talk about purpose/careers and use YouScience, our aptitude assessment. My goal is that every student in our building has seen me AT LEAST once a year. If you as a parent/caregiver have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me via phone or email.
