SCISA George Grice Awards
In recognition of Dr. George Grice, a founding member of the South Carolina Independent School Association, current eighth-graders who score at or above the 90th percentile on any one of the reading or math subtests of the Stanford 10 Achievement test taken during the student’s seventh-grade year and are recommended by the head of the school are awarded the George Grice Eighth Grade Scholar Award.

First Baptist Spirit Award
The Spirit of First Baptist Award is presented to one male and one female from each grade who have been nominated by his and her peers. To be selected to receive this honor, each nominee must demonstrate outstanding qualities in the following categories:
Attitude: The student is goal-oriented, enthusiastic and respectful of school policies.
Academics: The student strives to maintain a high average.
Character: The student performs random acts of kindness, maintains a friendly rapport with peers and faculty, and is a positive role model.
School Spirit: The student participates in extracurricular activities and exhibits pride in being a Hurricane.
